Dieterich, Neoga, C-H Claim Boys Basketball Wins

NEOGA -- Neoga High School edged Cumberland 53-50 in boys basketball non-conference action Wednesday evening.

The Indians edged out to a 17-13 opening quarter lead and still had that four-point lead at halftime, 31-27 and again going into the final quarter, 42-38. The Pirates had a 12-11 final period surge but couldn't make up that first quarter four-point deficit.

Krikie tallied 18 for the winners while Kersey added 14 and J. Baker 10. Cumberland was led by McMechan with 13 and Shaon with 10.

Dieterich picked up a 51-40 win over Tri-County. Tri-County held a 23-22 halftime lead before Dieterich had a 15-8 third period run and outdistanced Tri-County 14-9 in the final quarter.

A. Bohnhoff tallied 15 to lead the winners while D. Aherin added 14. Tri-County was led by Wright with 18 and Kirchner with 14.

At Mulberry Grove

Beecher City handed Mulberry Grove a 71-52 loss in competition Wednesday evening.

Austin Rexroad tallied 28 points for the Eagles while Brady Barnes pulled down 12 rebounds and scored eight points.

 

At Farina

Cowden-Herrick traveled to South Central and edged the homestanders 50-46.

The Hornets jumped out to a 30-14 hafltime lead then had to hold off a second half challenge by South Central.

Barnes tallied 15 for the winners while Burrus chipped in with 12. South Central was led by Powless with 15.
