Olney Beats Newton In Lone Area Game Played

OLNEY -- Newton High School traveled to Olney and fell to the homestanding Tigers 54-44 in boys basketball competition as the only area game played due to the weather Monday evening.

The Eagles trailed Olney 17-12 after the opening quarter but knotted the score at 24-24 at halftime. Olney pushed ahead 20-12 in the third quarter. The contest was tied five times and the lead changed hands seven times.

Newton was led by Caleb Chestnut with 15 points as he connected on five three-pointers. Luke Stone and Luke Huston had 12 points each.
