Effingham St. Anthony High School downed Cowden-Herrick 65-32 in National Trail Conference boys basketball action Saturday.

The score was tied at 12-12 after one quarter before St. Anthony took a 31-25 hafltime lead and then put the game away with a 24-2 third quarter run.

Hoelscher tallied 16 and Williams 13 for the Bulldogs. Cowden-Herrick was led by Burrus with 11.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis stepped out to an 18-4 opening quarter lead and went on to down Robinson 74-49 in action Saturday.

The Wooden Shoes were led by Reed Hardiek with 30 points and Brett Mette with 10. Hardiek connected on a whopping eight three-pointers in the contest. Wenthe pulled down six rebounds. The Shoes are now 15-7 on the season and will celebrate Senior Night Tuesday against Vandalia.

The Indians were led by Garrett Ziegler with 18 points, nine coming in the final quarter, and Derek Jahraus with 11. McConnell had 16 and Hendryx 14 for the winners.

Dieterich took a 23-17 halftime lead and then had a 20-11 third quarter run. Traub and Niemerg tallied 14 points each while Aherin added 12 for the Maroons. St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by L.  Maxey with 24 points.

At Hillsboro

Effingham picked up a victory in the Hillsboro Freshman Boys Basketball Tournament Saturday.

The Hearts defeated Greenville 79-63. In the opener, Auburn edged Hillsboro 61-60. Effingham will now face Auburn in winner bracket action tonight at 7:15. Hillsboro takes on Greenville in consolation play at 6 p.m.
