Illinois Falls To Iowa

(Champaign, IL) -- Joseph Bertrand had 20 points but Illinois suffered an 81-74 loss to Iowa at the State Farm Center Saturday. Rayvonte Rice added 13 points and nine rebounds but the Fighting Illini fell to 13-9 with a 2-7 Big Ten mark. Illinois hosts Wisconsin Tuesday.

 

College Basketball Roundup

Northwestern defeated Minnesota 55-54 on Saturday while UIC suffered a 70-46 loss to Valparaiso. Northern Illinois beat Ball State Saturday 67-65 in overtime.  DePaul lost to Providence Saturday and hosts Georgetown tonight. Notre Dame beat Boston College Saturday and is at Syracuse tonight.


Indiana Upsets No. 14 Michigan

(Bloomington, IN) -- Yogi Ferrell dropped in a game-high 27 points as Indiana upset 14th-ranked Michigan 63-52 on Sunday at Assembly Hall. Noah Vonleh posted 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Hoosiers, who improved to 14-and-8 on the season and 4-5 in Big Ten play. Derrick Walton Jr. netted 13 points and Caris LeVert added 12 for the Wolverines, who had their 10-game winning streak snapped. Michigan is now 16-5 and 8-1.


Cincinnati Gets By South Florida

(Cincinnati, OH) -- Cincinnati earned its 14th straight win beating South Florida, 50-45, yesterday at Fifth Third Arena. Sean Kilpatrick scored 18 points, while Justin Jackson added 15 and six rebounds. The Bearcats improved to 21-2 overall and 10-0 in the AAC. They host UConn on Thursday.


No. 17 Pitt Falls At Home To Virginia

(Pittsburgh, PA) -- Malcolm Brogdon nailed a three-pointer with 0.4-seconds left to lift Virginia past 17th-ranked Pittsburgh 48-45 on Sunday at the Petersen Events Center. Jamel Artis netted a team-best 11 points off the bench for the Panthers, who have lost two in-a-row for the first time this season and are now 18-4 and 6-3 in ACC action. Pitt travels to Miami Wednesday.
