Bulldogs Win, Area Girls Roundup

Effingham St. Anthony High School downed Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran 46-28 in girls basketball action Thursday evening.

The Bulldogs edged out to an 11-7 opening quarter lead and widened that to 21-11 at halftime. Megan Nuxoll led the Bulldogs with 17 points while Kate Richards chipped in with 11.

Christ Our Rock was led by Sabrina Maschoff with 13 points.

Flora came calling and claimed a 44-38 Little Illini Conference win over Newton Thursday evening.

The Wolves stepped out to an 18-9 opening quarter lead and held off Newton over the next three quarters. Jones tallied 13 for the winners.

Newton was led by Cartright with 15. The Eagles drop to 5-4 in the conference, 10-13 overall.

Three players hit double digits for Dieterich as the Movin' Maroons downed visiting South Central 57-24 Thursday.

Courtney Flach tallied 18 while Rachel Schmidt added 17 and Mallorie Vahling 11. Vahling led in rebounds with 10. Flach led in assists with four and steals with eight.

Dieterich improves to 8-13 on the season.
