St. E/B, Dieterich Advance in NTC Eighth-Grade Tourney; T-town Drops Two Games

St. Elmo/Brownstown and Dieterich advanced in winner bracket play at the National Trail Conference Eighth-Grade Boys Basketball Tournament Monday evening.

St. Elmo/Brownstown edged Stewardson-Strasburg 45-43. SE/B took a 21-18 halftime lead and led 31-27 going into the final period. Stew-Stras had a 16-14 run but fell short.

Brown tallied 28 for the winners. Hansen led Stew-Stras with 13.

In the second game, Dieterich defeated Altamont 47-27. No other information was provided.

Games continue tonight, weather permitting, as Windsor faces Neoga at 6:15 and Cowden-Herrick takes on Sigel St. Michael at 7:30 in consolation bracket action.

At Teutopolis

Monticello came calling and picked up two victories over host Teutopolis.

Monticello edged the Wooden Shoes 37-36 in seventh-grade play. Dawson Smith led T-town with 16 points while Clint Weber scored 10.

In eighth-grade action, Monticello was a 40-31 winner. Lee Hardiek led T-town with 11 points.
