Local Schools In Basketball Polls

Several local schools are among those ranked in the high school basketball polls.

In 3A Girls basketball, the undefeated Effingham Lady Hearts were among the teams receiving votes.  The Lady Hearts pushed their record to 17-0 with a win at Newton Tuesday night and have won 39 of 40 games over the past two seasons; the only loss the sectional championship game to end last season.

In 2A Girls basketball, the Teutopolis Lady Shoes are ranked fourth, slipping from #2 after a weekend loss to Breese Central.  The Lady Cougars took the #2 spot away from T-Town with the win.

In 2A boys basketball, the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes are ranked eighth again this week, although that ranking could slip after Tuesday night's loss to Mattoon.  The Newton Eagles also received votes in the 2A poll.

In 1A boys basketball, the St. Anthony Bulldogs were among the teams receiving votes.
