Effingham St. Anthony High School handed Shelbyville a 41-23 loss in one of the very few girls basketball contests held around the area Thursday evening.

The Bulldogs edged out to an 11-8 opening quarter lead behind Megan Nuxoll's six points. That lead went to 22-15 at halftime and 33-21 going into the final period. Kate Richards took over the scoring reins in the third period with eight points and finished with 14 to lead the Bulldogs.

Also in double figures was Nuxoll with 10, scoring all 10 points in the first half.
