Illini Blasted By Badgers

(Madison, WI) -- Rayvonte Rice scored a game-best 19 points with nine rebounds as the Fighting Illini fell 95-70 in Madison to the Badgers last night.  Joseph Bertrand also had nine boards with 18 points for Illinois, which dropped to 13-3 and 2-1 in the Big Ten. The Illini are at Northwestern Sunday.


#11 Gators Rout South Carolina In SEC Opener

(Gainesville, FL) -- Scottie Wilbekin scored a game-high 17 points to lead 11th-ranked Florida to a 74-58 rout of South Carolina in the SEC opener for both teams at the O'Connell Center. Casey Prather and Patric Young both added 13 points for the Gators, who improved to 12-and-2 on the season. The Gators travel to Arkansas Saturday.


Oklahoma State Handles Texas

(Stillwater, OK) -- Big 12 play is off to a rough start for Texas as they fell to Oklahoma State, 87-74, in Stillwater. The Longhorns only trailed by one at halftime before falling apart. Demarcus Holland posted 12 points and 10 boards for Texas, which fell to 11-4 overall and 0-2 in the conference. They try to rebound hosting Texas Tech Saturday.

 

Mizzou Falls To Georgia

(Columbia, MO) -- Charlie Mann scored 18 points, including the go-ahead basket with 35.8 seconds to go in overtime as Georgia beat number-21 Missouri 70-64 in an SEC opener. Jabari Brown had 19 points, and Earnest Ross added 15 for the Tigers in the loss. Mizzou returns to action Saturday afternoon at Auburn.


Buffaloes Clip Cougars

(Spokane, WA) -- Josh Scott tallied 19 points and nine rebounds to carry the 17th-ranked Buffaloes to a 71-70 overtime win against the Washington State Cougars in Spokane last night. Askia Booker was 2-of-12 from the field but 13-of-14 from the line for 18 points as the Buffs improved to 14-2 and 3-0 in the Pac-12.  The Buffs battle Washington Sunday in Seattle.


Kansas Cruises Past Oklahoma

(Norman, OK) -- The No. 20 Kansas Jayhawks shot 55 percent from the field in a 90-83 win over Oklahoma. Freshman Wayne Selden, Jr., went five of 10 from three-point range and scored a career-high 24 points for Kansas, who won its conference opener for the 23rd straight year. Senior Cameron Clark notched 32 points for the Sooners in the loss. The Jayhawks host Kansas State on Saturday.


Massachusetts, Villaova Win

No. 19 Massachusetts topped Saint Joseph's at home 66-62 while 10th-ranked Villanova cruised to an 83-67 road win over Seton Hall.

 

Men's College Preview

A pair of regional men's college basketball teams are back on the hardwood tonight. The DePaul Blue Demons are on the road in Indianapolis facing the Butler Bulldogs. DePaul, at 0-3, is looking for its first Big East win. Meanwhile, the Northwestern Wildcats are also on the road in Iowa against the Hawkeyes. The Wildcats are 0-2 in the Big Ten.
