MSU Wins

(East Lansing, MI) -- Fourth-ranked Michigan State let a 17-point lead slip away in the second half and went to overtime before handing number three Ohio State its first loss of the year as the Spartans beat the Buckeyes 78-68 last night at the Breslin Center. Keith Appling led MSU with 20 points, Adreian Payne added 18 and Gary Harris contributed 13. Michigan State, now 14-1 overall and 3-0 in Big Ten play, hosts Minnesota on Saturday.

Syracuse delivered Virginia Tech a 72-52 loss last night in Blacksburg.


ISU Crushes Baylor

(Ames, IA) -- DeAndre Kane scored 30 points while adding nine assists and eight rebounds to seventh-ranked lead Iowa State in an 87-72 win over number-nine Baylor last night in Ames. Melvin Ejim added 18 points as the Cyclones moved to 14-0. ISU plays at Oklahoma on Saturday.


Duke Rips Georgia Tech

(Durham, NC) -- Duke outscored Georgia Tech by 21 in the second half on the way to a 79-57 win at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The 13th-ranked Blue Devils got 27 points from Rodney Hood to win their first ACC game of the season. Hood made 5 of 7 three-pointers. Duke improved to 12-3 and is at Clemson Saturday.


Creighton Crushes DePaul

(Rosemont, IL) -- Doug McDermott had 19 points to lead 23rd-ranked Creighton in an 81-62 win at DePaul last night. Avery Dingman added 16 points off the bench as the 'Jays improved to 13-2 with a 3-0 Big East mark. The Bluejays are back home to host Xavier Sunday afternoon.
 

Illinois Meets Wisconsin

(Madison, WI) -- Illinois takes the court tonight in Madison against fourth-ranked Wisconsin. The Fighting Illini are off to a 2-0 start in Big Ten play and sit at 13-2 overall. The Badgers are 15-0 on the season with two conference wins. Tip from the Kohl Center is at 8:00.

 

College Basketball Roundup

Three local hoops teams were in action last night. DePaul suffered an 81-62 home loss to Creighton while Notre Dame fell at home to NC State, 77-70.  Youngstown State delivered a 75-62 loss to UIC. Northern Illinois travels to face Buffalo tonight. Northwestern plays at Iowa Thursday night.
