Lady Hearts Coach Jeff Schafer said, "It was a long day playing three games (JV and freshmen also played) and a long bus ride, but worth it as all three teams came away with victories."

Josie Zerrusen had a monster game for Effingham, scoring 30 points.  Schafer said, "Josie kept us afloat in the first half, as we didn't guard very well and fouled the three-point shooter three times. We played better defensively in the second half, but had three or four chances to really put the game away and didn't.  They just kept making plays and, to their credit, just kept grinding.  We did a nice job the last three minutes executing and making our free throws."

Of Zerrusen, Schafer said, "Josie had a great game making play after play, and the kids did a great job of finding her."

Of the 15-0 record, Schafer commented, "We are at the halfway point now and just have to keep trying to improve each game."

In addition to Zerrusen's game, other scorers for Effingham were Caitlin Kaufman eight, Lauren Stephenson six, Stephanie Robb and Maddy Field four each, Jantzen Michael three, and Felicia Totten two.

Effingham won the JV game 38-30.  Scoring for the JV Hearts: Steffen eight, Beals and Field seven each, Crowell six, Nunamaker, Conkling and Riemann three each, and Spencer two.

Effingham's freshmen won 42-22.  For Effingham: Conkling 16, Depoister nine, Webster six, Damron five, Greene four, Pierson two.
