The St. Anthony Bulldogs once again exploded in the fourth quarter to defeat the Shelbyville Rams 55-49 in action on the first day of the 2013 Vandalia Holiday Tournament.  The game was heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com.

It was anybody's game in the first half and Shelbyville pulled away to a seven-point lead at the end of the third quarter 38-31.  Then came the fourth quarter when St. Anthony pounded the ball inside and made its foul shots to outscore the Rams 24-11 and come from behind to post the six-point win.

Shelbyville led 15-12 after one quarter and clung to a 25-24 halftime lead before outscoring the Bulldogs 13-7 in the third quarter.  Then came the Bulldog explosion.

St. Anthony finished with four players in double figures in scoring.  Neil Williams, held to four points in the first half, came up huge down the stretch and finished with 16 points.  Alex Hoelscher scored 11 points and again had a healthy helping of rebounds.  John Goeckner and Andrew Gardewine each scored 10 points.  Also for the Bulldogs, Zach Gardewine scored six points and Matt Gibson had two points, ironically the first two points of the game.

The win was the fifth straight for the Bulldogs who are now 6-3 on the season.

St. Anthony plays twice on Friday at Vandalia, taking on Greenville at 12:30pm and Vandalia at 8pm.  Hear all of the Bulldogs' action from the tournament on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com.
