DANVILLE -- Sigel St. Michael fell to host Danville Schlarman 55-45 at the Class 8-1A State Girls Basketball Tournament Thursday evening.

Danville Schlarman came out to take the early lead. Schlarman's press and up-tempo game had the Sharpshooters turning the ball over more than they liked in the first quarter but they never stopped fighting for the ball.

The Hilltoppers started the second qurater with a baseline play and Chian Scott drained a three-pointer. Jolene Bueker came back for St. Michael and nailed a three of her own. St. Michael cut into the lead with some great defense that caused several turnovers they then converted into points. But quick steals and layups kept the Hilltoppers ahead 32-17 at the half.

The Sharpshooters came out fired up and added four quick points and caused the Hilltoppers to turn over the ball several times. The teams traded threes and continued the up-tempo game. Schlarman led 49-28 going into the final period.

Sadie Bueker drained her second three of the half to start the fourth quarter. Bueker added a second three and the lead was cut down to 15. The Sharpshooters held Schlarman to six points in the fourth quarter but the early lead was too much to overcome.
