St. Michael, Windsor Advance In NTC Winner Bracket; T-town Nabs Two

Sigel St. Michael and Windsor advanced in winner bracket action at the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Boys Basketball Tournament Tuesday evening at Stewardson-Strasburg.

St. Michael downed Neoga 45-15, taking a 15-8 first half lead then running away in the third period with a 20-5 margin. Hoene led the winners with 14 points while Probst added 10. Neoga was led by L. Peters with five.

In the second contest, Windsor downed Dieterich 44-13. Windsor held a 22-6 halftime lead. Greuel led the winners with 17 points. Dieterich was led by Will with six.

Sigel St. Michael now faces St. Elmo/Brownstown tonight at 4:30 in the South Gym and Windsor meets Cowden-Herrick at 7:30 in the North Gym in winner bracket action. In consolation bracket play, Neoga faces Altamont at 6:15 p.m. in the South Gym and Dieterich meets Stewardson-Strasburg at 7:30 in the South Gym.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis captured two victories over Charleston in eighth-grade A and B competition on the Wooden Shoes' homecourt Tuesday evening.

T-town won the A game 47-32. T-town held a 29-25 lead going into the final quarter then went on an 18-7 run. Collin Funneman tallied 15 and Eric Kremer 13 for the winners. Bennett led Charleston with 15.

In the B contest, T-town edged Charleston 40-39. Charleston took a 17-3 opening quarter lead but T-town came back with a 20-7 second period run to pull within 24-23 at halftime. T-town held a 31-30 lead going into the final period and both teams tallied nine.

Will Schlink scored 18 for the winners. Littleford scored 12 for Charleston.
