Effingham High School hosted Charleston in a makeup Apollo Conference girls basketball game Tuesday evening and sent the Trojans home with a 54-45 loss.
Josie Zerrusen and Caitlin Kaufman tallied in double figures for the Hearts. Josie Zerrusen led the way with 15 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Kaufman chipped in with 11 points and nine rebounds.
"We had a tough battle with Charlesotn tonight," said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. "Josie had a great all-around game and was three assits shey of a triple double. Caitlin did a nice job on the boards also. We really sturggled offensively but made enough plays. Stephanie Robb and Maddy Field helped give us a spark off the bench tonight."
The Hearts remain unbeaten on the season and are 6-0 and stand at 1-0 in the conference.
