The Teutopolis High School girls basketball team will be having a Purple Out game Monday, December 16 against Effingham St. Anthony.

"We are playing for cancer awareness and are hoping to pack the gym," said T-town Coach Laurie Thompson. "We currently have two students in our high school with cancer. One of them has battled cancer for three long years and the other just found out recently. We have dedicated our 2013-14 season to them and their fight. We are currently wearing purple and grey shooting shirts with their initials on the sleeves.

"We are asking for donations to help fill the raffle baskets. We are raffling off several baskets with different themes. We also are selling "Ballin' for a Cure" T-shirts to paint the gym purple. Order forms can be picked up at the high school offices of St. Anthony and Teutopolis.

"We will be donating all proceeds to the Devin Mette and Eddie Siemer families to help offset the cost of their medical treatments. Devin and Eddie are currently receiving cancer treatments and both of them will be having surgery in the near future.

"Please consider donating to our Purple Out game. Donations can be sent to Teutopolis High School attn. Purple Out at 801 W. Main St. Teutopolis, IL 62467 or call Coach Laurie Thompson at (217) 857-3139. The deadline for donations is December 12. We appreciate your donation in any way to heip support our cause for our classmates and friends. Thank you from myself,  Coach Cottrill, Coach Fleener and the Lady Shoes for your time and consideration."
