Teutopolis Wins Girls 8-3A Basketball Regional

ALTAMONT -- Teutopolis Junior High School claimed the championship of the Class 8-3A Altamont Girls Basketball Regional Thursday evening.

T-town defeated host Altamont 30-21. T-town stepped out to an 8-2 opening quarter lead and led 15-6 at halftime. The two teams played even in the second half.

Marianna Hemmen tallied 18 for the winners who improve to 12-12 on the season and advance to face the winner of the Edwards County (Albion) Regional, either Jasper County or Lawrenceville Parkview, Wednesday, December 11 at 6 p.m. in sectional action at Cumberland. The Edwards County Regional was postponed.

Altamont was led by Carly McHugh with seven points. The homestanders finish their season at 19-5.

Class 8-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional

Sigel St. Michael claimed its own regional championship by downing Effingham Sacred Heart Thursday evening. St. Michael won 44-26. No other statistics were reported.

St. Michael advances to the Pana Sacred Heart Sectional Wednesday, December 11 at 6 p.m. to face either Pana Sacred Heart or Pocahontas.

 

Postponed:

The Class 8-2A South Central Regional was postponed until Monday. Effingham St. Anthony will face Brownstown/St. Elmo at 6 p.m. followed by South Central against Oblong at 7:15 p.m.

The championship game will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The Class 8-3A Edwards County (Albion) Regional championship game was postponed. Jasper County was to face Lawrenceville Parkview Thursday evening. There is no announcement as to when that contest will be held.
