DIETERICH -- Altamont took a quick lead over Dieterich in high school girls basketball action Monday evening then went on for a 52-46 win.

Altamont held a 28-24 halftime lead and led 40-36 going into the final quarter. The Indians had two players hit double digits. Madison Ohnesorge tallied 14 and Lauren Ohnesorge 10.

Dieterich was led by Kallee Heuerman with 14 and Mallorie Vahling with 11. Vahling pulled down a whopping 16 rebounds and led in assists with four and steals with six. The Movin' Maroons drop to 0-2 in the National Trail Conference, 2-5 overall.

Newton tallied a 50-43 victory over Edwards County (Albion) in a Little Illini Conference matchup Monday evening.

The Eagles tallied a 23-19 halftime lead and went on for the win. Richards tallied 15 for the winners while Kremer scored 10. Newton is now 1-0 in the conference, 2-5 overall.

Brownstown/St. Elmo bounced South Central 72-24. B/SE jumped out to a 41-11 halftime lead and never looked back.

Hill and Oberlink led the winners with 21 and 19 points respectively while Austin added 11. South Central was led by Hahn with eight points.

Three players hit double figures as Neoga claimed a 79-44 non-conference victory over Tri-County.

Deters led the way with 23 points while Butler added 16 and Thies 16. Deters led in rebounds with 13 and had five steals. Butler also had five steals. The Indians are now 4-3 on the season.

Casey-Westfield picked up a 56-23 Little Illini Conference win over Cumberland. The Warriors held Cumberland scoreless while taking a 29-0 first quarter lead and led 43-2 at halftime.

Effingham St. Anthony edged Mattoon 35-32 in freshman/sophomore action Monday evening.

Jenna Woltman led the Bulldogs with 11 points while Andrea Doedtman chipped in with eight. St. Anthony led 19-13 at halftime then held off a final quarter challenge.

Teutopolis picked up a 48-40 freshman/sophomore victory over Charleston Monday evening. Charleston held a 29-16 halftime lead but T-town came roaring back in the second half.

Shelby Thompson tallied 17 points while Reagan Drees scored 14 and Jamie Sandschafer 11. T-town is now 3-0 on the season.
