St. Anthony Wins NTC Tournament Championship

The St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs captured the championship of the National Trail Conference Basketball Tournament Saturday, defeating the Neoga Lady Indians 39-28 in the title game at Beecher City High School.

St. Anthony led at all the stops; 13-9 after one quarter, 23-13 at halftime, and 31-21 after three periods.

Megan Nuxoll with 17 points and Kate Richards with 14 points led the Lady Bulldogs as they have throughout the early part of the season.  

Also for St. Anthony: Maggie Mumm four, Morgan Gardewine two, Lauren Wendt two.

Jillian Deters with 11 points and E.C. Thies with 10 points led Neoga.

Also for Neoga: Madison Butler seven.

Altamont won the third place game, downing Dieterich 51-46.

Altamont led 11-10 after one quarter, but Dieterich pulled in front 23-21 at halftime.  The game was tied at 37-37 before Altamont outscored Dieterich 14-9 in the final period to post the win.

Madison Ohnesorge scored 20 points and Lauren Ohnesorge added 13 points to lead Altamont. Also in double figures was Gabby Alwardt with 11 points.  

Also for Altamont: Lily Laatsch two, Danielle Vaughn two, Macy Wendling two, Chandra Smith one.

Rachel Schmidt led Dieterich with 15 points, while Courtney Flach scored 12 points and Mallorie Vahling added 11 points.

Also for Dieterich: Kallee Heuerman six, Elizabeth Abbott two.

Brownstown/St. Elmo won the consolation championship game, defeating Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 60-30.

Brownstown/St. Elmo put it away in the first quarter, outscoring CHBC 20-1.  It was 34-13 at halftime and 56-23 after three quarters.

Bethany Oberlink led Brownstown/St. Elmo with 20 points, while Audrianna Pruett scored 12 points and Molly Hill added 11 points.

Also for Brownstown/St. Elmo: Brown seven, Austin five, Fitch five.

Summer Riley led CHBC with nine points, Kirby Herrmann had seven points, Jensyn Morrison four, Alicia Adams four, Chloe Meek four, and Ashley Miller two.  

The All-Tournament Team includes Madison Ohnesorge, Gabby Alwardt and Macy Wendling of Altamont, Madison Butler, E.C. Thies and Jillian Deters of Neoga, Megan Nuxoll and Kate Richards of St. Anthony, Mallorie Vahling and Courtney Flach of Dieterich, Bethany Oberlink and Molly Hill of Brownstown/St. Elmo.
