Effingham Sacred Heart won its own Class 7-1A Girls Basketball Regional Monday evening.

The Shamrocks downed Sigel St. Michael 30-25. Sacred Heart took a 26-8 halftime lead and then had to hold off a final half challenge by the Sharpshooters. Webster tallied 14 to lead the Shamrocks while N. Carie scored 12.

St. Michael was led by S. Bueker and Krampe with eight points each.

Sacred Heart advances to the Pana Sacred Heart Sectional at Jefferson Middle School Wednesday, December 4.

Class 7-2A Effingham St. Anthony Regional

St. Anthony and Oblong were winners Monday evening and advance to the champoinship game Wednesday evening.

Oblong opened with a 34-10 victory over Neoga. Oblong took a 13-2 opening quarter lead and had a 9-0 third period run. Laino tallied 12 and Dart 11 for the winners. Neoga was led by Hill with six.

In the second contest, St. Anthony beat Brownstown/St. Elmo 28-14. The Bullpups took a 14-3 halftime lead and had an 8-1 third quarter run.

Kabbes led St. Anthony with 12 points. Wilhour led Brownstown/St. Elmo with seven.

St. Anthony meets Oblong Wednesday evening at 6 for the championship.

Class 7-3A Altamont Regional

Teutopolis and Altamont claimed victories in the Altamont Regional Monday evening.

T-town defeated Cumberland 28-14. The Wooden Booties led 16-6 at halftime. Deters tallied 10 for the winners. Cumberland was led by Ruholl with 12.

In the second game, Altamont edged Paris Mayo 29-26. Altamont led 18-13 at halftime and Paris Mayo came back with a 9-2 third period run to pull within 22-20. Altamont then claimed the win with a 9-4 final period surge.

Mayhaus tallied 15 to lead the winners. Isaf led Paris Mayo with 10.
