Effingham Jr. High Downs T-town Twice In Girls Play, Area Roundup

Effingham Junior High School claimed two victories over Teutopolis in girls basketball action Thursday evening.

In the seventh-grade contest, Effingham won 37-26 to improve to 17-1 on the season. The Mustangs trailed 7-6 after the opening quarter but roared back with a 19-2 second period run and never looked back.

Carsyn Fearday scored 19 and Abby Weis 12 for the winners. Savannah Grimes led T-town with eight. The Wooden Booties drop to 18-3 on the year.

In eighth-grade play, Effingham was an 18-14 winner. The Mustangs scored all 18 points in the opening half for an 18-4 lead. Myers led Effingham with nine points. Macy Michels led T-town with 10. T-town drops to 9-12 while Effingham improves to 16-2.

At Strasburg

Stewardson-Stras/Windsor and Beecher Cityi/Cowden-Herrick split victories Thursday evening.

Stew-Stras/Windsor won the seventh-grade contest 18-14 with an 8-2 second period run. Schlechte and K. Davis had six points each for the winners. Wojcik, G. Smith and Berlin had four each for BCCH. Stew-Stras/Windsor improves to 15-5 overall and 7-1 in the National Trail Confrence.

In eighth-grade action, BCCH won 29-16. Endsley tallied 16 to lead the way. Davis led SS/Windsor (3-17) with six points.

At Dieterich

Sigel St. Michael tallied two victories over Dieterich in competition Thursday evening.

St. Michael was a 29-17 winner in seventh-grade play. In the eighth-grade contest, St. Michael won 29-25. At the buzzer, Dieterich's Anna Shadle swooshed a half court shot but Dieterich still fell short.
