MATTOON -- Effingham St. Anthony split victories with Mattoon in girls junior high basketball competition Monday evening.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade game 29-12 to improve to 13-8 on the season. Meg Richards tallied 10 points for the winners.

In eighth-grade play, Mattoon was a 35-12 winner. St. Anthony drops to 3-18 on the season. Keri McGuire scored four points to lead the Bullpups.

At Dieterich

Effingham claimed two wins over Dieterich. The Mustangs won the seventh-grade contest 38-14 to improve to 16-1 on the season.

Fearday tallied 11 while Buscher added eight. Dieterich was led by Robards with five.

In eighth-grade play, Effingham claimed a 37-26 win. Myers had nine and Armstrong eight for the winners who improve to 15-2. Dieterich was led by  Deain with nine.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis and Salem Franklin Park split victories Monday evening.

T-town won the seventh-grade contest 33-8 by taking a 16-0 first quarter lead. Olivia Niemerg led the winners with 10 points. T-town improves to 17-2.

In eighth-grade play, Salem Franklin Park won 40-36. T-town held a 20-15 halftime lead but Franklin Park came back with a 25-16 second half run to pull out the win. Marianna Hemmen led T-town with 19 points. The Wooden Booties drop to 9-10.

Jasper County picked up an eighth-grade win over Martinsville, 37-20 Monday evening.

Abby Frohning scored 15 points and Alexis Cox 10 for the winners.
