Lake Land College Women's Basketball Team Is Now 4-0

The National Trail Conference is well represented on the Lake Land College women's basketball team this season. Four area players are competing for the Lakers and those include Faith Wendte (Beecher City-Cowden-Herrick), Grace Ziegler (Altamont), Erica Hotze (Neoga) and Candace Niemerg (Dieterich).

The team began its season in the North Arkansas Classic. They defeated North Arkansas 57-56 on a three-pointer with six seconds remaining by Blair Stephenson.

The Lakers defeated Missouri Baptist 76-53 with Ziegler scoring 13 points and getting three steals. Wendte and Niemerg tallied 11 points each. Niemerg pulled down 11 rebounds. Hotze had two points. All 13 players scored for the Lakers.

In the next game, Lake Land downed Lincoln 85-49. Niemerg tallied 16 points and had nine rebounds.

In a contest Saturday, the Lakers won over Lewis & Clark 81-64. Niemerg had 12 points and eight rebounds while Ziegler scored 13. Wendte chipped in with three and Hotze four points.
