St. A, Sacred Heart Nab Two Wins Each in Girls Basketball

Effingham St. Anthony captured two victories over Shelbyville in girls junior high school basketball competition Tuesday evening.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade game 36-7 to improve to 10-6. Shea Kinkelaar and Meg Richards scored eight points each.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony was a 15-9 winner and is 2-12. Katie Kabbes scored four points.

At Effingham

Effingham Sacred Heart was a winner in both seventh and eighth-grade play Tuesday evening.

The Shamrocks captured the seventh-grade contest 29-23 over Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor. N. Carie and Webster provided the one-two scoring punch with 15 and 10 points respectively. Stew-Stras was led by Schlechte wtih seven.

In eighth-grade action, Sacred Heart won 22-14. Shamhart, Webster and N. Carie tallied four each while five other players had a basket each. Stew-Stras/Windsor was led by Everett with six points.

Pana Sacred Heart came calling and claimed two wins over Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick Tuesday.

Pana Sacred Heart won the seventh-grade game 41-20. Holland scored 14 for the winners. >BCCH was led by Lauren Wojcik with seven as BCCHK drops to 9-5.

In eighth-grade play, Pana Sacred Heart downed BCCHK 39-19. Epley scored 13 and SChoonover 10 for the winners. BCCHK was led by Taylor Oldham with eight. BCCH drops to 2-11.

Jasper County picked up an eighth-grade victory but fell in seventh-grade play to Lawrenceville Tuesday evening.

Lawrenceville was a 24-21 winner in seventh-grade action. Mallory Bergbower taliled seven points for Jasper County.

In eighth-grade play, Jasper County won 40-29. Abby Frohning tallied 16 points while Halley Powers scored 12.
