Effingham Junior High School claimed two victories over Paris Crestwood in girls basketball competition Tuesday evening.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade contest by taking a 25-2 opening quarter lead and holding Crestwood scoreless to lead 43-2 after three quarters. The final tally was a 45-5 couint. Weis scored 12 and Fearday 10 as Effingham moved its record to 11-1.

In eighth-grade action, Effingham edged Paris Crestwood 33-30. Effingham held a 31-11 lead going into the final quarter and Crestwood had a 19-2 scoring run. Myers led Effingham with 14 points as the Mustangs improve to 10-2.

At St. Anthony

St. Anthony traveled to Pana Sacred Heart Monday evening and suffered two losses. Sacred Heart won the seventh-grade contest 22-12.

In eighth-grade play, Sacred Heart won 18-11.

In Tuesday action, St. Anthony hosted Flora and split victories. The Bullpups won the seventh-grade game 17-10 to improve to 8-6. Kattie Kabbes and Meg Richards had six points each.

In eighth-grade action, Flora won 15-3. St. Anthony drops to 1-11.

At Dieterich

Effingham Sacred Heart and Dieterich were both winners Tuesday evening. Dieterich claimed the seventh-grade contest 23-18. Andrea Bierman led Dieterich with eight points.

In eighth-grade action, Sacred Heart won 31-18. Anna Shadle and Hailey Deain led Dieterich with five each.

 

At Oblong

Jasper County moved into the championship game of the LEIC Tournament with a victory over Casey-Westfield Tuesday evening.

Jasper County won 27-19. Alexis Cox led the winners with 10 points. Jasper County will now face Marshall Thursday evening at 7:15 p.m. for the tourney championship.
