EIU Announces Basketball Schedule

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois basketball will have 14 games carried on WEIU TV this season with ten live broadcasts featuring both the Panther men’s and women’s team.  The season tips off on Wednesday, Oct. 30 with Blue Madness in Lantz Arena.  The event is open to the public and a chance for kids to trick or treat along with fans of all ages to meet the 2014 EIU basketball teams.

The schedule tips off on TV on Tuesday, Nov. 12 with the home opener for new women’s basketball coach Debbie Black against Indiana State.  The game will be televised live on WEIU.  The men’s home opener on Wednesday, Nov. 13 will be against Olivet Nazarene and will be shown tape delayed at 9 p.m. on WEIU.

The women’s game on Nov. 21 against Loyola-Chicago will be tape delayed on WEIU as will the Panthers final home game against UT Martin on Feb. 27.  Both of those women’s games will be broadcast at 9 p.m.

The other men’s tape delayed contest is EIU’s final home regular season game on Feb. 24 against Chicago State airing at 9 p.m.

The live schedule features the Panthers OVC doubleheaders in the 2014 calendar year starting with the Jan. 4 contests against Morehead State.  The other doubleheaders are on Jan. 18 against Austin Peay, Feb. 1 against SIU Edwardsville and Feb. 8 against Southeast Missouri.  On all of those Saturday’s the men will play at 2 p.m. followed by the women at 4:15 p.m.

The other live contest for the men on WEIU is the Jan. 16 game against Murray State with a 7 p.m. start in Lantz Arena.

Single game tickets are now on sale for the 2013-14 season by calling 217-581-2106 or online at www.eiupanthertickets.com   The EIU men will play an exhibition game this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. against Oakland City in Lantz Arena.

Additional games set for broadcast will be announced early next week.  All Ohio Valley Conference games and EIU home games will be carried on the OVC Digital Network, the conference’s free digital streaming platform at www.ovcdigitalnetwork.com
