Fighting Illini basketball guard Ahmad Starks will have to sit this season out. The NCAA denied his request to forego a rule that requires transfers wait a year before suiting up.

The Chicago native left Oregon State back in April to be closer to his sick grandmother.  He transferred into the U of I and asked the NCAA if he could play this year because of the circumstances.

The waiver was denied because the U of I campus is more than 100-miles away from Starks’ home in Chicago.
