Nets Introduce Garnett, Pierce, Terry

(Brooklyn, NY) -- The Brooklyn Nets are showing off their newest additions. Forwards Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce and guard Jason Terry were all formally introduced Thursday at the Barclays Center. The trio was acquired as part of a blockbuster trade with the Boston Celtics.  "KG" says he took his time before deciding to waive his no-trade clause.

The Nets also got forward DJ White in the deal, but he was waived Thursday. Brooklyn gave up Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries, Kris Joseph, MarShon Brooks, Keith Bogans and three future first-round draft picks in the trade. The 37-year-old Garnett averaged 14.8 points and 7.8 rebounds last season, the 35-year-old Pierce averaged 18.6 points and the 35-year-old Terry contributed 10.1 points per game primarily as a reserve.

NBA Board Of Governors Approves Bobcats Name Change To Hornets

(Las Vegas, NV) -- The NBA Board of Governors have unanimously approved the Charlotte Bobcats application to change the team's name back to the Hornets. The change will be effective at the start of the 2014-15 season. The next step in the process is developing the team's NBA brand identity, including color schemes, logos and uniform designs.

 

76ers' Coaching Search Down To Curry, Brown

(Philadelphia, PA) -- The 76ers coaching search is reportedly down to two. Multiple outlets are reporting the Sixers will give the job to either Michael Curry or Brett Brown. Curry spent the past three seasons as the associate coach to Doug Collins, who resigned in April.  Brown has been an assistant in San Antonio for the last seven seasons and was the player development coach for five years before that.
