Indiana Hands Illinois 80-65 Loss

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Illinois fell to Indiana, 80-65, at State Farm Center on Thursday night, snapping the team's four-game winning streak.

Terrence Shannon Jr. recorded a team-high 26 points, his fifth consecutive contest in double figures and his seventh game with at least 20 points. Shannon also registered three assists.

RJ Melendez registered 10 points, his fifth double-digit scoring performance, and grabbed four rebounds.

The Illini forced 17 turnovers, their highest mark in conference action this season, and they scored 18 points off those takeaways. Illinois grabbed 14 offensive rebounds and tallied 13 second-chance points, while the hosts made 11 steals and capitalized with 11 fast-break points.

Illinois (13-6, 4-4) will return to State Farm Center on Tuesday night to take on Ohio State (10-8, 2-5) at 6 p.m. CT for Krush Cancer Night.

TEAM NOTES

Illinois scored 18 points off of 17 Indiana turnovers.

The Illini scored 13 second-chance points off of 14 offensive rebounds.

Illinois recorded 11 steals, the second time in four contests they have reached double-digit steals.

He scored 13 of his 26 points in the first half, going 2-for-4 from behind the arc.
