Effingham Sacred Heart picked up two wins over Sigel St. Michael in junior high boys basketball action Tuesday.

In the seventh-grade contest, the Shamrocks claimed a 36-26 victory. Sacred Heart stepped out to a 13-5 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

Mooney led the way for the Shamrocks with 19 points while Schuette added nine.

St. Michael was led by Dittamore with 10 points and Platz with nine.

In eighth-grade play, Sacred Heart led 27-16 at halftime and went on for a 46-35 win.

Three players scored 15 points each for the Shamrocks, Traub, Warner and Hecht.

St. Michael was led by Mayer with 16 and Brant Niebrugge with 10.

At Sigel

At Salem

Salem Franklin Park downed Effingham in eighth-grade action Tuesday, 59-28.

Franklin Park ran out to a 23-5 opening quarter lead and that was the game.

Effingham was led by Braddy with 13 points.

At Newton

Jasper County and Robinson split victories in action Tuesday.

Jasper County was a winner in the seventh-grade contest, 46-14. Jasper County ripped out to an 18-0 opening quarter lead.

Ian Kessler tallied 15 while Maddox Homer scored 13 for the winners. Kessler led in rebounds. Jasper County is now 8-0 on the season.

In the eighth-grade game, Robinson claimed a 45-33 victory. The two teams were tied at 20-20 at halftime before Robinson went on a 25-13 second half run.

Hayden Mulvey led Jasper County with 21 points. Jasper County dropped to 3-8.

At Strasburg

South Central and Stewardson-Strasburg each claimed a victory Tuesday evening.

In the seventh-grade contest, South Central was a 17-11 winner. Stew-Stras held an 8-5 halftime lead but South Central came back with a 12-3 second half for the win.

Aidan Hoover and Sigrist led the way with five points each for South Central. The winners are now 9-3 on the season.

Stew-Stras was led by Jones with six points.

In eighth-grade play, Stew-Stras picked up a 37-24 victory.

Stew-Stras held a 6-4 lead after the opening quarter then had a 16-7 second period run and never looked back.

Pruemer led Stew-Stras with 10 points while Wetherell had nine and Bible eight.

South Central was led by Colton Cartright with seven points. South Central fell to 7-3.

Teutopolis won both seventh- and eighth-grade games over Marshall Tuesday evening.

The Wooden Shoes stepped out to a 20-2 opening quarter lead in the seventh-grade contest and went on for a 47-12 win.

Jake Probst scored 12 and Luke Niebrugge 10 for the Shoes.

In eighth-grade play, T-town led 33-3 at halftime and won 56-5.

Hayden Tebbe and Ross Bloemer scored eight each for the Shoes as 15 players scored.

At Neoga

North Clay (Louisville) beat Neoga in both seventh- and eighth-grade play Tuesday.

North Clay won the seventh-grade contest, 27-18.

In eighth-grade play, North Clay edged Neoga, 40-39. North Clay is now 4-4 in the National Trail Conference, 4-4 overall.
