Effingham Downs Dieterich, 60-43 In Boys Action

DIETERICH -- Effingham High School ran out to a 22-9 opening quarter lead and went on for a 60-43 non-conference boys basketball win over Dieterich Tuesday evening.

The Hearts had five players share the scoring duties in the opening period as Ethan Ritz tallied six and Garrett Wolfe and Dalton Fox had five each.

The Hearts then had a 15-4 second period to lead 37-13 at halftime. Dieterich came back with a 30-23 second half run but the Hearts had the game in the win column.

Wolfe finished with 18 points to lead the Hearts while D. Fox added 10. Jett Volpi and Ritz had eight points each.

Dieterich was led by Pete Britton with 18 and Luke Westendorf with 14. Westendorf tallied 12 of his 14 points in the third quarter.
