Taylorville Edges Effingham In Boys Basketball

TAYLORVILLE -- Effingham High School traveled to Taylorville for an Apollo Conference matchup in boys basketball and fell by two points, 36-34 Thursday evening..

The Hearts ripped out to a 16-7 opening quarter lead as Jett Volpi, Ethan Ritz, Dalton Fox and Brayden Pals knocked in a three-pointer each. Pals finished with five points in the quarter.

But Taylorville came back in the second quarter with an 11-4 run to pull within 20-18 at halftime. Taylorville then knotted the contest at 26-26 going into the final period.

The Tornadoes then had a 10-8 final period to pull out the two point victory.

Only one player hit double figures for Effingham as Pals finished with four field goals, one a three-pointer, and one of two at the line for 10.
