SEB, CHBC Move To 2-0 In Mulberry Grove Tourney

In the opener SEB picked up an easy win over Lebanon by a 54-14 count.

The Eagles ran off to a 19-4 opening quarter lead as five players scored. SEB then led 35-7 at halftime. Caleb Campbell scored five points in the first period and had 12 by halftime.

SEB went 14-3 in the third period and finished out with a 5-4 edge.

Campbell tallied 14 points for the winners while Gavyn Smith scored 13 and Brady Maxey had 11. Campbell, Maxey and Kyle Behl pulled down four rebounds each. Jarrett Pasley had four steals while Smith and Adam Atwood had three each. Logah Schroeder had two blocked shots.

In the second game, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City defeated Patoka, 53-47.

Patoka stepped out to a 12-3 opening quarter lead and led 22-13 at halftime. Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City finally got untracked with a 16-9 third period surge as Silas Buzzard connected for nine points and Jack Robinson had five.

The Bobcats then had a 24-16 final period to pull out the victory. Waylon Robretson scored seven and Jadon Robertson five while Kade Persinger led the way with nine.

The final contest went to Mount Olive over Mulberry Grove, 44-17.

In Pool A, St. Elmo/Brownstown has a 2-0 record while Mount Olive is 2-1, Mulberry Grove 1-1 and Lebanon 0-3. In Pool B, CHBC and Father McGivney are 2-0 while Patoka and Ramsey are 0-2.

The tourney continues Friday as Patoka meets Ramsey at 5:15 p.m. followed by CHBC against Father McGivney at 6:45 and St. Elmo/Brownstown taking on Mulberry Grove at 8:15.
