Thirty-two was the magic number for Effingham St. Anthony as the Bullpups defeated North Clay (Louisville) in both seventh- and eighth-grade girls basketball competition Tuesday.

St. Anthony won the seventh-grade contest, 32-2. The Bullpups took a 20-2 opening half lead and that was the game.

Addie Lauritzen led the way with 10 points while Aubrey Denning and Nora Trupiano had eight each.

The lone basket for North Clay was by Thompson.

In eighth-grade play,the Bullpups won again, this time by a 32-22 count.

St. Anthony held a 20-10 halftime lead and the two teams played to a 12-12 second half.

Macy Hoene led the way for St. Anthony with 18 points, connecting on eight field goals and two of six at the line.

North Clay was led by Sylvia Robey with 12 points. North Clay is now 1-1 in the National Trail Conference and overall.
