Hannah Hayes Garners 1,000th Point As WSS Wins, Girls Roundup

Hannah Hayes scored her 1,000th career point as Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg tallied a 53-41 victory over Macon Meridian in Saturday high school girls basketball competition.

 

Hayes finishes her career with 1,005 points. Mikala Nichols finished just short of the 1,000 points with 994.

Nichols led the Hatchets with  27 points on 13 field goals and a free throw. Hayes chipped in with 12.

WSS held a 17-9 opening quarter lead and led 31-18 at halftime. Meridian had a 14-4 third quarter but WSS got the momentum back with an 18-9 final period.

At Neoga

Neoga finished out the girls basketball season with a 40-26 win over Cumberland Saturday.

The Indians held a 29-8 halftime lead. Two players scored in double figures. Audrey Ramert led the way with 12 points while Kylee Phillips chipped in with 10.

Neoga ended the season with a 16-3 overall mark and a 7-1 National Trail Conference record.

Cumberland was led by Morgan Scott with 13 points.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis finished out the season on a high note with a 64-40 win over Paris Saturday.

The Wooden Shoes held a 12-3 opening quarter lead as Lexi Niebrugge hit a three-pointer and isabella Hardiek and Kaitlyn Schumacher had four each.

Paris came back with a 13-9 second quarter run to pull within 21-16 at halftime. But the Shoes went on a 44-27 second half run.

Four players hit double digits for the Shoes. Hardiek led the way with 16 points on six field goals and four of four at the line. L. Niebrugge added 14 on four three-pointers and two of four at the line. K. Niebrugge added 13 and Kaitlyn Schumacher 11.

Hardiek had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. L. Niebrugge had three steals. Kaylee Niebrugge had three assists.
