The Neoga High School girls finished the National Trail Conference with a 7-1 record.

STRASBURG -- Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg edged Neoga, 41-40 in a girls high school basketball contest Saturday but the win didn't count in the National Trail Conference.

Neoga and Altamont had actually already finished atop the NTC standings with 7-1 records each.

WSS took a 10-6 opening quarter lead and led 19-12 at halftime. Neoga came back with a 15-8 third quarter to tie the score at 27-27 going into the final period. The Hatchets then had a 14-13 final period to pull out the victory.

Ella Kinkelaar led WSS with 14 points while Hannah Hayes and Mikala Nichols had nine points each. Neoga was led by Sydney Richards with 13 and Trista Moore with 10. The Indians dropped to 13-3 overall.

At Oblong

Altamont ran off to a 24-6 lead on Oblong and never looked back in a 65-28 non-conference victory Saturday.

Grace Nelson connected on five field goals for 10 points in the opening quarter to get the Indians started in the right direction. Brooke Runge scored six points in the period.

Nelsno went on to finish with 19 points while Runge added 13.

Effingham St. Anthony claimed a National Trail Conference win over Brownstown/St. Elmo Saturday.

The Bulldogs edged out to a 12-7 opening quarter lead as Riley Guy knocked in three baskets and two free throws for eight points. St. Anthony moved ahead 32-18 at haftime with seven points from Lucy Fearday.

St. Anthony had a slight 21-20 second half edge.

Fearday tallied 15 to lead St. Anthony while Guy chipped in with 13. The Bulldogs ended the NTC season with a 4-4 record.

Brownstown/St. Elmo was led by Olivia Campbell with 18. BSE ended at 0-8 in the conference.

BSE claimed the junior varsity game, 36-30. J. Ireland led BSE with 10 points.

St. Anthony was led by Maddie Kibler with nine.

At Teutopolis

Lexie Niebrugge had a big-scoring third quarter as Teutopolis garnered a 43-27 non-conference win over St. Joseph-Ogden Saturday.

The Wooden Shoes held a 19-9 opening half lead before Niebrugge went to work scoring 11 points in the third quarter on three trifectas and a regular basket and the lead went to 37-17.

Niebrugge knocked in five three-pointers in the game and was four of four at the line for 21 points. Kaitlyn Schumacher added nine points on three field goals and three of three at the line.

Schumacher and Isabella Hardiek pulled down seven rebounds each while L. Niebrugge had five. Emily Konkel had one assist.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City fell to Macon Meridian, 56-54 in a non-conference matchup Saturday.

The Bobcats took a 12-5 opening quarter lead and led 28-17 at halftime. CHBC held a 44-30 lead going into the final quarter then fell apart. Meridian came back with a 26-10 run to pull out the two-point win.

Gracie Heckert led CHBC with 16 points while Lani Morrison tallied 13 and Mackenzie Bunch 12. Heckert pulled down 11 rebounds while Morrison had nine. Heckert also led in steals with five and assists with six. Lorton had five steals and five assists.

Dieterich tallied a 33-26 win over CHBC in junior varsity action. Dieterich was led by C. Brummer with 11. CHBC was led by Marissa Summers and Harleigh Bunch with six each.

North Clay (Louisville) came calling and handed South Central a 43-31 National Trail Conference loss Saturday.

The Cardinals took a 12-9 opening quarterl ead and led 22-20 at halftime. North Clay then had a 21-11 second half.

Allison Czyzewski was the lone North Clay player in double figures with 13.

South Central was led by Taegan Webster with nine.
