Stewardson-Strasburg claimed two junior high boys basketball victories over Effingham Sacred Heart Tuesday.

Stew-Stras claimed the seventh-grade contest, 34-32. The two teams were tied at 17-17 at halftime. Stew-Stras then had a slight 15-11 third quarter. Sacred Heart came back with a 4-2 final period but fell short.

Beals led Stew-Stras with 18 points. Sacred Heart was led by Borries with 16.

In eighth-grade action, Stew-Stras claimed a 49-23 victory.

Stew-Stras held a 31-7 halftime lead. Morris tallied 16 for the winners.

Sacred Heart was led by Sparks with 16.

At St. Anthony

Effingham St. Anthony pounded Charleston in seventh-grade competition Tuesday, 52-15.

The Bullpups held a 19-1 opening quarter lead and led 28-6 at halftime.

Lauritzen led the Bullpups with 22 points while Brent chipped in with 19.

In the eighth-grade contest, the Bullpups also nabbed a big victory, 49-29.

The Bullpups held a 32-17 halftime lead.

St. Anthony was led in double figures by W. Fearday with 12. S. Link, M. Seachrist and L. Frost tallied eight each in even scoring.

The Bullpups are now 9-2 on the season.

At Oblong

Jasper County claimed two victories over Oblong in Tuesday action.

Jasper County won the seventh-grade contest, 29-24. Jasper County held a 13-5 halftime lead then held off Oblong in the second half.

Dexter Fulton scored 13 and Drake Wolf 12 for the winners who finished the season at 4-8.

In eighth-grade play, Jasper County was a 44-20 winner. Jasper County led 20-12 at halftime and had a 24-8 second half.

Wade Wickham led the winners with nine points as the team finished with a 5-7 record.
