DIETERICH -- Dieterich stepped out to a 10-5 opening quarter lead but Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg came back with an 18-6 second period to lead 23-16 at halftime. The Movin' Maroons had a 13-5 third period and held on for a 38-36 victory over WSS.

Bryce Budde led the way for Dieterich with 10 points while Andrew Lidy chipped in with nine.

The Hatchets were led by Samuel Vonderheide and Austin Wittenberg with 11 points each. The Hatchets drop to 5-7 on the season.

In the junior varsity game, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg claimed a 51-41 victory.

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City edged North Clay (Louisville), 63-60 Tuesday.

The Bobcats eased into a 15-12 opening quarter lead as Jadon Robertson tallied eight of those points and Silas Buzzard knocked in a three-pointer.

CHBC then had a 20-12 second quarter run to lead 35-24 at halftime. Robertson and Buzzard continued their hot scoring with six and nine points respectively.

The Cardinals came back with a 16-6 third quarter run. Dakota Weidner and Brady Ingram led the attack with five points each. North Clay had pulled within 41-40.

In the final period, CHBC had a 22-20 run and pulled out the three-point win. Dakota Gray led CHBC with nine points in the quarter.

Robertson led the way with 18 while Buzzard had 17 and Gray 11.

North Clay was led by Logan Fleener with 21. He scored 13 in the final quarter. Also in double figures were Weidner with 14 and Ingram and Ethan Bible with 10 each.

In junior varsity play, North Clay claimed a 50-42 victory. North Clay was led by Levi Smith with 12 points.

CHBC was led by Robinson and Bain with 10 points each.

At Cowden

At St. Elmo

South Central came to visit St. Elmo/Brownstown and went home with a 55-34 victory Tuesday.

The Cougars edged out to a 9-8 opening quarter lead then had an 18-8 second period. South Central had a 28-18 second half.

South Central hit 55 percent from the field and 56 percent at the free throw line. SEB hit only 36 percent from the field.

Keenin Willshire tallied 21 points on eight field goals and four of nine at the line. He also pulled down nine rebounds, had three assists and one blocked shot. Also in double figures was Collin MIller with 13. Miller and Ethan Watwood had two steals each.

St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by Caleb Campbell with nine points and five rebounds. Gavyn Smith had two assists and three steals. Brady Maxey had two assists.

At Newton

Newton High School played host to Marshall in Little Illini Conference action and tallied a 54-42 win Tuesday evening.

Marshall stepped out to an 11-7 opening quarter lead but Newton rallied for a 23-21 halftime tally. Mason Schafer scored six while Evan Schafer and Mitchell Zumbahlen had five each.

In the third quarter, Newton continued with an 11-8 tally for a 34-29 lead going into the final quarter. Aaron Einhorn knocked in two three-pointers and a free throw for seven in the quarter.

In the final period, E. Schafer scored seven and Zumbahlen five as the Eagles had a 20-13 run for the victory.

E. Schafer finished with 15 points while M. Schafer and Zumbahlen tallied 10 each.

Newton improved to 5-0 in the conference and stands at 7-4 overall.
