Cardinals Tally Victory, SEB Falls In Boys Action

WAYNE CITY -- North Clay (Louisville) tallied a 58-48 non-conference boys basketball victory over Wayne City in high school action Monday evening.

The Cardinals trailed Wayne City 12-5 after the opening quarter but came roaring back with a 16-7 second period to lead 21-19 at halftime. North Clay continued it's hot scoring in the third quarter with a 21-14 run and finished out for the victory.

Three players hit double figures for North Clay. Logan Fleener led the way with 21 points on eight field goals, that included a three-pointer, and was four of four at the line. Ethan Bible scored 15 points and Brady Ingram chipped in with 12. Ingram connected on three three-pointers and was three of four at the line.

The Cardinals had five three-pointers in the contest and were 11 of 13 from the line.

At St. Elmo

Patoka captured a 43-34 victory over St. Elmo/Brownstown Monday evening.

The Warriors took a 10-6 opening quarter lead and led 20-17 at halftime. Patoka then had a 23-17 second half.

Patoka finished with 14 of 21 free throws for 66 percent after finishing with only 37 percent from the field.

SEB was led by Caleb Campbell with 10 points on five field goals. Campbell led in rebounds with eight and had two steals.

Jace McWhorter pulled down seven rebounds and had a blocked shot. Ean Forbus and Jarrett Pasley had two assists each. David Stine had two steals.
