Bulls End Heat's Winning Streak

(Chicago, IL) -- The Bulls have ended the Heat's win streak at 27 games following a 101-97 win in Chicago.  This is Miami's first loss since February 1. LeBron James racked up 32 points and seven rebounds in the setback.  The Los Angeles Lakers own the all-time mark at 33 consecutive games without a loss set in 1971-72.

Retired Chicago Bulls Player Dies

(Chicago, IL) -- A legendary player for the Chicago Bulls has died.  Team officials say retired center Tom Boerwinkle passed away Tuesday at the age of 67 from complications from leukemia. Boerwinkle played 10 seasons with the Bulls and holds the franchise record for most rebounds in one game.

 

Duke's Collins To Join Northwestern

(Evanston, IL) -- Duke assistant Chris Collins is the new men's basketball coach at Northwestern. The university confirmed earlier reports on Wednesday night. Collins is the son of Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doug Collins. He will remain at his post with Duke until its season ends.  The Blue Devils Michigan State in the Sweet 16 Friday.  The Wildcats fired Bill Carmody March 16 after 13 seasons without an NCAA Tournament berth.

 

Sweet 16 Begins Tonight

Second-seeded Miami-Florida faces third-seeded Marquette tonight in the East Region in Washington, D.C to begin the Sweet 16. Top-seeded Indiana takes on fourth-seeded Syracuse in the top half of the East Bracket. In the West Region from Los Angeles, second-seeded Ohio State battles sixth-seeded Arizona and ninth-seeded Wichita State plays 13th-seeded La Salle.
