Dalton Hinterscher Advances in Three-Point Showdown

Dieterich High School's Dalton Hinterscher advanced to the Final Four in the Country Financial Three-Point Showdown at the Class 1A State Boys Basketball Tournament Thursday.

Hinterscher led the Final Four players by knocking down 13 three-pointers. Also advancing were Jayson Hapeman of Woodlawn with 11, Brendan Dauphin of Hanover River Ridge with 11 and Jamie Cousins of Sciota West Prairie who won a shootoff. Cousins got 10 in the first round then went into a shootoff with three other players and banged home seven to advance.

Also competing in the Class 1A three-point competition was Ethan Schoonover of Cowden-Herrick. Schoonover finished with 10 in the opening round and went into the shootoff and connected on two. Another Woodlawn player, Ross Owens competed and got seven. Spencer Garner of Moweaqua Central A&M had eight.

In Class 2A, advancing were Caleb Jonkman of Lansing Illiana Christian with 10, Clayton Hoover of Byron with 10, Will Schaufelberger of Greenville with 10 and Dayton Ince of Kewanee who got nine in the opening round then won the shootoff against six other players with eight.

Also competing in the 2A three-point competition from around the area were Jason Richart of Robinson who got five and Adam Etter of Breese Mater Dei who got seven.

The Final Four in both 1A and 2A advance to Saturday competition.
