The NCAA’s enforcement staff said in its reply to Kansas that its basketball program committed “egregious” and “severe” rules violations, and that they “significantly undermine and threaten the NCAA Collegiate Model.” The reply was released by the university Thursday.

The enforcement staff also alleged that coach Bill Self and assistant Kurtis Townsend “embraced, welcomed and encouraged” Adidas employees and consultants to influence high-profile basketball recruits to sign with Kansas. The school is charged with five Level I rules violations, which Kansas, Self and Townsend are disputing.
