Thompson, Area Girls on Decatur H&R Teams

Teutopolis High School girls basketball coach, Laurie Thompson earned Coach ot the Year honors from the Decatur Herald & Review as the All-Area Teams were released.

Thompson's Wooden Shoes finished with a 25-9 record, advanced to the Class 2A super-sectional before suffering a two-point loss to Carterville. The Shoes won their 38th regional title and 26th sectional crown despite suffering injuries early in the season.

Brownstown/St. Elmo's Claire Wilhour, a senior guard, earned First Team honors. Wilhour averaged 18.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.7 steals for the Bombers.

Also garnering First Team honors were Mallory Ramage, sophomore guard from Mattoon, Shae Littleford, junior guard from Charleston, Emily White, junior forward from Sullivan and Mallory Cyrulik, sophomore guard from Clinton.

Second Team honors went to Allyson Hardiek, a senior guard from Altamont. Hardiek averaged 14.7 points and 9.5 rebounds as the Indians advanced to the Class 1A sectional championship game.

Other Second Team members were Avery Still, senior forward from Sullivan,  Anna Blank, sophomore guard from Olney, Jillian Hamilton, sophomore forward from Pana and Leah  Schneider, senior center from Lincoln.

Two area players earned Third Team honors. Olivia NIemerg, a senior guard from Teutopolis and Rachel Jackman from Altamont. Other Third Team members were Channing Reed, senior center from Central A&M, Brynn Tabeling, junior guard from Tuscola and Alexa Frankllin, senior guard from Arthur-Okaw Christian.

Area players earning Honorable Mention were: Kaitlyn Boerngen, sophomore guard from Dieterich; Olivia Campbell, junior guard/forward from Brownstown/St. Elmo; Allison Czyzewski, freshman from North Clay (Louisville); Lucy Fearday, Effingham St. Anthony; Annie Frost, freshman forward from Effingham; Mary Guse, Altamont; Riley Guy, Effingham St. Anthony; Allison Harris, senior guard from Newton; Hannah Hayes, junior guard from Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg; Brooke Jansen, senior guard/forward from Newton; Madison Lovett, junior from North Clay (Louisville); Zoe Mitchell, sophomore guard from Cumberland; Mikala Nichols, junior forward from Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg; Lexie Niebrugge, junior guard from Teutopolis; Natalie Oberilnk, senior center from Brownstown/St. Elmo; Kelsey Partlow, Neoga; Kaylee Phillips, Neoga; Jaelyn Robertson, senior guard from Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City; Brooke Runge, Altamont; Olivia Titus, senior guard from Neoga; Laney Webster, South Central and Whitney Zumbahlen, junior guard from Newton.
