EHS, LIC, Highland Girls Tourney Results

Vandalia edged Centralia 44-42 in the Effingham High School Girls Round Robin Tourney Tuesday evening.

Centralia held an 11-7 opening quarter lead and led 27-18 at halftime. Vandalia had a slight edge to move within 30-25 going into the final quarter. Vandalia then had a 19-12 run to pull out the win.

Hill tallied 15, Stewart 13 and McNary 11 for the winners. Centralia was led by N. Edson with nine.

Centralia took the junior varsity contest, 26-24.

Vandalia has officially won the round robin after beating Effingham Monday in overtime.

 

Highland Tournament

Two games were contested in the winner bracket and two in consolation bracket at the 34th Annual Scott Credit Union Highland Girls Tournament Tuesday evening.

In winner bracket play, O'Fallon defeated Nashville 49-35 while Highland won over Breese Mater Dei 41-33. O'Fallon will meet Highland Thursday at 8 p.m.

In consolation bracket action, Belleville East defeated Taylorville 59-32 while Hillsboro won over Okawville 51-49. Belleville East meets Hillsboro tonight at 6:30.

In the other contests tonight, Teutopolis faces Bethalto Civic Memorial at 8 p.m. in winner bracket play. Breese Central takes on Troy Triad at 5 in the consy bracket.

 

LIC Tournament

Two games were contested at the Little Illini Conference Tournament Tuesday evening.

Paris won over Marshall 56-41 and Olney downed Lawrenceville 61-55 in winner bracket play. Paris will now face Olney at 8 p.m. Thursday for the championship while Marshall takes on Lawrenceville at 6:30 for third place.

Tonight's games feature Red Hill against Casey-Westfield at 6 while Newton takes on Robinson at 7:30, both in the consolation bracket. The winners will meet Thursday at 5 p.m. for the consolation crown.
