The Breese Mater Dei Knights edged the St. Anthony Bulldogs 59-58 in overtime in a dandy ballgame Saturday evening. The contest at the Enlow Center was heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com. The game was weathered out Friday night, so was re-scheduled for Saturday.

After a couple of early lead changes, Mater Dei led the majority of the game. It was 12-9 Knights after one quarter, 29-25 Mater Dei at halftime, and 39-33 Mater Dei after three quarters.

St. Anthony, though, was finally able to get on a roll in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Knights 17-11 to force the overtime. Mater Dei overcame a cold stretch at the foul line to outscore the Bulldogs 9-8 in overtime to post the one-point win.

St. Anthony shot 46% from the field, 18 of 37, including 3 of 12 threes. Mater Dei shot 40%, 17 of 42, including 3 of 15 threes.

The Bulldogs made 19 of 27 foul shots, while Mater Dei made 22 of 32. St. Anthony committed 12 turnovers to nine for Mater Dei, good totals for both clubs in such a fiercely-contested game. Mater Dei outrebounded St. Anthony 27-21, although the Bulldogs closed the gap later in the game.

St. Anthony's Jaccob Dust led all scorers with 25 points, despite being heavily guarded. Dust was 8 of 9 from the field, 9 of 12 from the line, and grabbed 9 rebounds. Also in double figures for St. Anthony were Jack Hoene with 12 points and Aaron Webb in his first game back from injury with 11 points. Jack Elder scored four points, and Kaden Fearday and Connor Walk each scored three points.
