ALTAMONT -- Effingham Junior High School was a winner over host Altamont in seventh and eighth grade boys basketball play Thursday.

The Mustangs tallied a 54-32 win in seventh-grade action. EJHS took a 36-20 halftime lead. Belcher scored 23 for the winners while Pals chipped in with 13. Effingham is now 5-9 on the season.

Altamont was led by Shafer with 17 and Plum with 11.

In eighth-grade play, the Mustangs ran off to a 33-5 opening quarter lead and that was the game.

Raddatz scored 12 for the winners while Pals added 10.

Altamont was led by Carl with seven points.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis held a 26-11 halftime lead and handed Stewardson-Strasburg a 52-29 loss in seventh-grade play Thursday evening.

The Wooden Shoes had 10 players score in the contest led by Carter Hoene with 10 points. Luke NIemerg added nine.

Stew-Stras was led by Gurgel with 16 and Morris with 11.

In the eighth-grade game, the Wooden Shoes ran off to a 22-3 opening quarter lead and led 27-5 at halftime. T-town captured a 60-15 victory.

Ethan R. Thoele was the lone player in double figures for the winners with 10.

Stew-Stras was led by Manhart with six.

At Louisville

Sigel St. Michael downed North Clay (Louisville) in both seventh and eighth grade action Thursday evening.

The Sharpshooters claimed the seventh-grade contest, 46-16.

In eighth-grade action, St. Michael edged North Clay, 34-31.

North Clay took a 9-2 opening quarter lead and led 19-15 at halftime. St. Michael pulled within 29-24 going into the final quarter then had a 10-2 run to pull out the win.

Ruholl led St. Michael with nine points while Hoene added eight.

North Clay was led by Wells with 12.

At Neoga

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City nabbed two National Trail Conference victories over Neoga Thursday evening.

In the seventh-grade game, CHBC was a 27-9 winner with a 15-2 halftime lead. CHBC was led by Ernie Viller with six points.

Neoga was led by Brock Cardinal with four.

In the eighth-grade contest, CHBC was a 44-15 winner. CHBC led by 20 points at halftime.

Carson Evans scored 14 points for the winners while Gage Lorton added 10.

Neoga was led by James Bullock with six.

Jasper County and Cumberland split victories Thursday evening.

Cumberland edged Jasper County 32-30 in the seventh-grade contest. Kohlten Barthelme scored eight points to lead the winners. Bierman had nine points for Jasper County. Jasper County dropped tdo 3-11.

In the eighth-grade contest, Jasper County picked up a 45-20 victory. Leading 21-8 at hafltime, Jasper County went on for the win led by Parker Wolf with 24 points. Jasper County improved to 8-6.

Cumberland was led by McMechan with sixth points.

At Cisne

Cisne played host to the WEAA Conference Tournament finals Thursday.

Cisne claimed the championship with an 82-33 win over New Hope.

In the third place contest, Jasper defeated Allendale-St. Mary's, 57-35. The consolation title game went to Grayville over Olney St. Joe, 59-48.

In the three-point competition, Anden Atwood (Cisne) won with 10 followed by Kollin Kelsey (Allendale/St. Mary's) 8, Landon Harrelson (New Hope) 6, Landen Keck (Cisne) 6 and Layne Bucker (Jasper) 3.

Grayville won the cheerleading competition followed by Jasper and Cisne.
