Junior High Boys Basketball -- Jan. 7

Teutopolis and Mattoon split junior high boys basketball victories in Wednesday evening action.

Mattoon took a 12-6 opening quarter lead and held on for a 28-18 win in seventh-grade play. Mattoon held a 17-9 halftime lead.

T-town was led by Luke Niemerg with six points.

In the eighth-grade contest, the Wooden Shoes won 47-11. T-town ripped out to a 12-3 opening quarter lead.

Eli Hanson tallied nine points as he led 11 players in scoring.

At Okaw Valley

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City split wins with Okaw Valley in junior high action Tuesday.

Okaw Valley claimed the seventh-grade matchup, 26-19. Okaw Valley led 15-13 at halftime. CHBC took a 19-16 third period lead but the Bobcats couldn't find a basket or free throw in the final quarter as Okaw Valley had a 10-0 run.

Ernie Villa led CHBC with six points.

In eighth-grade action, CHBC claimed a 39-18 win. CHBC leaped out to a 14-3 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

Carson Evans scored 16 for the winners.
