OKAW VALLEY -- Effingham St. Anthony tallied a 46-40 victory over Okaw Valley in girls high school basketball action Monday evening.

The Bulldogs edged out to a 10-8 opening quarter lead and pushed that to 21-14 at halftime. Okaw Valley came back with a final period run but fell short.

Riley Guy tallied 20 to lead the Bulldogs while Lucy Fearday chipped in with nine.

Three players hit double figures as Teutopolis claimed a 68-37 victory over Sullivan in action Monday.

L. Niebrugge led the way with 17 points while O. Niemerg added 14 and C. Roepke 10. Niemerg led in steals with five. K. Schumacher pulled down nine rebounds while Niemerg had eight. H. Bueker and Niemerg blocked two shots each.

The Wooden Shoes stepped out to a 19-9 opening quarter lead and led 29-19 at halftime. The Shoes then put on a big run with a 21-10 third period.

Neoga edged out to a 7-6 opening quarter lead on Windsor./Stewardson-Strasburg and went on for a 40-30 victory.

The Indians had a 20-9 second half. Phillips led the winners with 15 points while Titus chipped in with eight. Neoga improves to 5-3 on the season.

The Hatchets were led by Hannah Hayes with 10 points and Mikala Nichols with seven. Hayes and Serenity Weeden pulled down six rebounds each. Hayes had four assists and two blocked shots.

Altamont improved its National Trail Conference mark to 2-0 and its overall record to 6-0 with a 70-25 win over Dieterich Monday evening.

The Indians edged out to a 12-10 opening quarter lead then pushed ahead 28-16 at halftime. Allyson Hardiek led Altamont in the opening half with 11 points then had an eight point third period as Rachel Jackman also had an eight point quarter. Altamont sped away with a 23-6 run.

Hardiek tallied 21 for the winners while Jackman added 17 and Brooke Runge 12.

Dieterich was led by E. Bloemer with eight points.

Brownstown/St. Elmo established the early lead at 19-5 in the opening quarter and that was the game as BSE won 61-28 in National Trail Conference action against South Central Monday.

BSE held a 33-9 halftime lead. Claire Wilhour proved unstoppable with 25 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals. Campbell scored 12 points and had four steals. Oberlink led in rebounds with 14 while Baldrige had eight.

Halle Smith led the Cougars with 12 points. South Central drops to 2-2.

North Clay (Louisville) edged Vandalia, 57-55 in varsity competition Monday evening.

The Cardinals took a 19-17 opening quarter lead and led 33-24 at halftime. North Clay held a six point lead going into the final quarter and held off the Vandals for the win.

M. Lovett scored 35 for the winners while C. Lewis added 12. Lovett connected on 10 field goals that included two three-pointers and was 13 of 15 at the line.

In junior varsity action, North Clay won 38-34.
