CHBC Wins Own Girls Thanksgiving Tournament

In Friday action, CHBC downed Sandoval 63-35, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg won over Dieterich 67-40, Neoga downed Cumberland 62-37, Macon Meridian beat Ramsey 57-32, WSS downed Macon Meridian 50-37, Cumberland beat Sandoval 56-43, Dieterich downed Ramsey 68-33 and CHBC defeated Neoga 56-51.

The finals were scheduled for Saturday. Sandoval defeated Ramsey 55-45 for seventh place while Cumberland won over Macon Meridian 40-33 for fifth place.

The third place contest went to Neoga over Dieterich 55-39.

Neoga edged out to a 12-8 opening quarter lead but Dieterich came back to lead 24-23 at halftime. The Indians then had a 21-4 fourth quarter to put the game away.

Neoga was led by Phililps with 18 and Audrey Ramert with 14. Dieterich was led by Kayla Johnson with 13.

CHBC won the championship by beating Windsor/Stew-Stras 41-33.

The Hatchets moved ahead 11-7 in the opening quarter but CHBC came back with a 14-5 second period to lead 21-16 at halftime. CHBC then had a 20-17 second half.

CHBC was led by Lauren Wojcik with 14 points and Jaelyn Robertson with 10. WSS was led by Mikala Nichols with 17.

Named to the All-Tournament team were: Hannah Hayes (WSS), Jaelyn Robertson (CHBC), Emily Johnson (Macon Meridian), Olivia Titus (Neoga), Brooke Locey (Dieterich), Mikala NIchols (WSS), Kylie Phillips (Neoga) and Lauren Wojcik (CHBC).
