Dieterich tallied a victory over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Girls Basketball Tournament Tuesday.

 

Dieterich took a 20-14 halftime lead then had a 19-14 second half for a 39-28 victory.

Niemerg led the way for the winners with 14 points.

CHBC was led by Rodman with 12.

North Clay (Louisville) edged Effingham Sacred Heart, 12-8.

Neoga won the other Tuesday game, defeating South Central 23-8.

The tournament continues tonight with Altamont against Neoga at 5:30 followed by Sigel St. Michael facing North Clay at 6:45 and Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor against Brownstown/St. Elmo at 8.

At St. Anthony

Effingham St. Anthony and Sigel St. Michael split victories in action Tuesday.

Sigel St. Michael claimed the seventh-grade contest, 13-12. The Sharpshooters held a 9-4 halftime lead. Ruholl tallied nine to lead St. Michael.

St. Anthony was led by Kabbes with six.

In eighth-grade play, St. Anthony picked up a 30-13 victory. The Bullpups led 12-7 at halftime and had a 12-3 third period run.

M. Kibler and H. Niebrugge had eight points each for the winners. St. Michael was led by Hatton and Budde with five each.

St. Michael tallied a 20-6 win in sixth-grade action.

At Effingham

Effingham edged Centralia, 32-31 in eighth-grade action Tuesday.

The Mustangs trailed Centralia 17-16 at halftime then had a 12-9 third period run.

Olivia Moser led the Mustangs with 11 points. The eighth-grade squad is now 3-3 on the season.

In seventh-grade action, Effingham pounded Centralia, 46-4 to improve to 5-1.

Althoff led the Mustnags with 12 points while Donaldson chipped in with seven.
